Day 3: The Wound and the Noise

Key Verse:
1 Kings 19:11-12 (NIV)
The Lord said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.’ Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

Reflection:
Life’s noise can drown out God’s voice, leaving you drained and disconnected. Eldredge writes, in his book Get Your Life Back, “The world is too loud. It is full of interruptions and distractions. It is killing us.” (Page 39)

God speaks in the quiet places. When you silence the noise, you can hear His gentle whisper, inviting you back into His presence. The constant barrage of noise and demands keeps us from hearing the still, small voice of God. But God speaks in the quiet places—when we choose to silence the distractions and create space for Him. In those moments of stillness, He invites us back into His presence, offering peace, clarity, and rest that our souls desperately need. When you quiet the noise, you open yourself to hearing His gentle whisper, guiding you with love and purpose.

Application:
Today, find a quiet place for reflection. Close your eyes and ask God to speak to you. Turn off all distractions and listen for His whisper. Let His presence renew your soul.

Prayer Focus:
Pray for the ability to quiet the noise in your life and to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice. Ask Him to give you the strength to find rest in His stillness.
