The Son—Redeemer and Savior

Scripture: John 1:1, 14

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”

The incarnation of Jesus, the Son of God, is one of the most profound mysteries of our faith. John’s Gospel introduces Jesus as the Word (Logos), eternally with God and fully God. When Jesus took on flesh and dwelt among us, He bridged the gap between God and humanity. He came to live the life we couldn’t live and to die the death we deserved. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus accomplished the work of redemption, making a way for us to be reconciled to God.

Jesus’ role in the Trinity is that of Redeemer, and His redemptive work didn’t end at the cross. Even now, He intercedes for us before the Father (Hebrews 7:25). He continues to mediate on our behalf, ensuring that we have access to the Father through His finished work. As both fully God and fully man, Jesus understands our weaknesses, our temptations, and our pain, yet He overcame them all.

When we struggle with guilt, shame, or feelings of inadequacy, we can look to the cross and be reminded that our redemption is complete. Jesus didn’t just cover our sins; He removed them. We stand before the Father, not as condemned sinners, but as beloved children because of Jesus’ sacrifice.

Reflection:

  • In what areas of your life do you struggle to accept Jesus’ redemption?
  • How can you embrace the freedom He offers, knowing that your identity is now rooted in Him and not in your past mistakes or failures?
