Dwell – Day 8

  -

As women, we know that life is full of highs and lows. One day everything seems to be going right, and the next, you’re overwhelmed, facing struggles you just didn’t see coming. (And sometimes it’s not even day by day… it’s minute to minute.)

It can be easy to feel discouraged, right?

In those moments, we can search for hope in many places. Maybe it’s relationships, financial stability, and control, or even our own strength. But true hope doesn’t come from anything in this world.

True hope comes from Jesus.

Hebrews 6:13-20

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

In Hebrews 6:19, Jesus is described as our anchor. A strong, unshakeable, steadfast source of security. The world around us might shift like sand, but Jesus is steady.

When we trust in Him, we have a hope that is unmovable, no matter what storms we face.

Jesus is not just a temporary solution or a fleeting feeling of comfort; He is the One who promises to carry us through, and His promises never fail.

Jesus doesn’t just offer us hope for a better tomorrow – He IS our hope.

Jesus’ peace is not dependent on our circumstances. He is with us today, tomorrow, and forever, offering peace when life feels chaotic and strength when we feel weak.

Because of Jesus, I can feel hope regardless of my circumstances.

A few additional scriptures to remind you of the peace that can only come from Jesus:

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Reflection:

  1. Where in your life do ou need to feel the unshakeable hope of Jesus?
  2. Where have you placed hope in things or people that ultimately couldn’t sustain you? How did that make you feel?
  3. How would how you respond to challenging circumstances change if you truly believed that Jesus is your anchor – the source of ALL security and hope?

Guided Prayer:

“Heavenly Father, I come to you today feeling the weight of the uncertainties of life. This world feels chaotic and you know my struggles. Lord, I confess to you that, at times, I have looked for hope in all the wrong places – in people, in circumstances, or in my own ability to control things. But, Lord, I know that You are the true source of hope. Lord, remind me that you are my anchor. The One that is holding me steady, no matter what comes my way. Fill me, Lor, with your peace and help me trust you more deeply. Thank you for being my foundation, my true hope in every season. In your precious name I pray, Amen.
