Proverbs 8

Crosspointlive   -

Chapter 8 is in contrast to chapter 7. In chapter 8, we see wisdom personified as a noble woman and she is inviting us all to learn from her. In chapter 7, we see the promiscuous woman and what she offers and how sin easily entangles us.  Wisdom is seen in public spaces and in the light while the promiscuous woman is in the dark and meets in secret.
The chapter is divided into 4 sections.
Verses 1-11 calls us to listen and gives us reasons to trust wisdom.
Verses 12-21 she displays her excellence and character.
Verses 22-31 she explains her origin and interactions with the Father.
Verses 32-36 closing and reminds us to listen to her.
The impression I get after reading about wisdom is that she is a force, she will make herself known to all and isn’t just for the elite or for a select few. She is for any one who needs to make a decision or is at a crossroads. She sets herself up at city gates where people are coming and going and is not hidden. (vs. 3) Wisdom is readily available to all of us. (vs.4) Wisdom wants to meet with the simple or those easily influenced for good or evil. She is laying out reasons why we can trust her like: She has important things to tell you. She is always right. She only speaks the truth. Her advice is wholesome and not crooked. Her words are to the point and intelligent. Wouldn’t you want this kind of friend, boss, mother or sister?
I would be hanging out with her all the time.
You know who her roommates and besties are?  These amazing girls are called Prudence, Counsel, Knowledge and Discernment. (vs.12) Also, Common Sense and Success like to hang around her. Wisdom makes people look good, she is like a seasoned personal assistant for Kings, Rulers, CEO’s and middle management. (vs.15-16) Wisdom for sure is “old money” she has enduring wealth, eternally speaking (vs.18) and will show you how to inherit wealth from the Father. (vs. 21) With wisdom as your eternal financial advisor your bank account and investments will always be full.
Wisdom knows the Father, in fact, she was with the Father in the beginning before anything was created. She is timeless, she was, and is and is to come. (vs 22) Wisdom learned everything from the Father, established boundaries and foundations and watched the creation of the world. (vs 29) Wisdom delights in us, His children, the divine family; the whole world. (vs. 31-32) Wisdom wants to give us joy through obedience and not ignoring her, she is waiting to meet with us. (vs 33) She has an opening in her schedule (vs. 34) just for us if we are willing to reach out to her. She gives out favor and blessing. (vs. 36) But those who neglect her, only shoot themselves in the foot and flirt with death.
I have her resume if you need to hire her or refer her to a friend. I just booked my time with her, I hope you will too!
